Rev. Msgr. Paul V. Garrity


Monsignor Paul was ordained in 1973 and has served in various assignments within the Archdiocese of Boston over the course of his priesthood. Most recently, he was the pastor for 18 years at St. Mary’s Parish in Lynn with responsibility for St. Mary’s Junior Senior High School. Under his leadership, St. Mary’s High School doubled its enrollment and was incorporated with its own Board of Trustees and Head of School. He also initiated special ministries and liturgies for both a Haitian and a Congolese Community at St. Mary’s Parish. Monsignor brings both his educational and multi-cultural experiences to Lexington Catholic Community. 

Rev. John S. Chen 
Parochial Vicar

Fr. Chen is a native of China and was ordained in 1995 in Quigdao, Shandong Province, P.R. China.  After his ordinaton, he completed a Master of Divinity Degree at St. John’s Seminary, Brighton, a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Western Jesuit School of Theology, Cambridge and a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the Lynch School of Education at Boston College. Since his ordintion, Fr. Chen has served as Rector and Theology Professor of Beijing National Seminary of the Catholic Church in China and Parochial Vicar for the Quincy Collaborative of Sacred Heart, St. Ann and St. Mary Parishes in our Archdioceses.    

Rev. Paul Sughrue

Senior Priest in Residence

Rev. Paul S. Sughrue is a graduate of Holy Cross College. He has served in parishes throughout the Archdioses of Boston for several decades. He was named Pastor of St Clare's in Braintree in 1997. Most recently he has served as Parochial Vicar for the Apple Valley Catholic Collaborative in Stow and Acton.  We are thankful to have Fr. Paul join our Lexington Catholic Collaborative.

Joyce Pinney

Director of Faith Formation for Grades 7-10 & Youth Minister

Joyce attended Assumption College and received a degree in Economics. While working in Financial Services and volunteering in the Youth Ministry and Religious Ed programs at St. Catherine in Norwood, she discovered that it was a lot more fun to hang out with teens than her 9-5 job!  She left the corporate world in 2001 to become the Youth Minister and Director of Religious Ed at St. Zepherin (now Good Shepherd) parish in Wayland, followed by St. Isidore in Stow and St. Bridget in Maynard.  She did her graduate coursework at the School of Theology and Ministry at Boston College.  In 2007, Joyce received the “Companions on the Journey” award, the highest national award given to Youth Ministers by the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry.

Joanne Messier Lemieux

Director of Music – Sacred Heart

Joanne received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Voice Performance from the Boston Conservatory.  She has completed studies in opera at Boston University, the New England Conservatory, as well as a course in choral conducting with James Jordan at the Westminster Choir College and a study of Gregorian Chant at the Pontifco Instituto diMusica Sacra at the Vatican in Rome. Joanne has appeared with the Opera Company of Boston, the Artistes Internationale, the Longwood Opera, the Chaminade Opera, and the Boston Vocal Artists. She has also maintained a private voice studio for over 25 years that has included many folk, pop, jazz and rock artists. Joanne has been the Director of Music at Sacred Heart since June, 2005. Joanne is accompanied on the organ by Timothy Zimmerman.


William P. Grzybowski

Director of Music and Organist – Saint Brigid

Bill was born and educated in Norwood, MA.  As a youth he sang in the Boys Choir at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish.  He then furthered his love of music at the New England Conservatory of Music, concentrating on organ studies.  Some of his teachers include:  Yuko Hayashi, Christa Rakich and Lois Regestein.  He has served as organist and Music Director at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual  Help (Mission Church), Boston 1980-1988; Blessed Sacrament, Walpole, 1988-2005; Saint Brigid, Lexington, 2005-present.  He is a member of the Boston Chapter American Guild of Organists; the Organ Historical Society, U.S. and is a Third Order Knight of Christopher Columbus; his hobbies include researching and preserving important pipe organs and reading.  Bill is also a lover of unique architecture. Bill is accompanied by cantors Gale Livingston and Mark Callahan

St Brigid Children's Choir

Our Children's Choir, under the direction of Mark Callahan, does a beautiful job lifting our hearts and minds to God at the 9:00 am Mass each Sunday! Choir practices are every Tuesday from 5:00 pm-6:00 pm and on Sundays before Mass, 8:15 am-8:45 am. Children of all ages are welcome!
